Country Boy Graduates

There’s also an old saying:  You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy.

What a fantastic graduation exercise!  Probably the best I ever attended.  The finest quality on every level. Very atypical.  If you’ve never heard Dr. Jim Garlow speak, you have missed a dynamic man with a message.

If I could ever promote a ministry school to anyone, it would be CFNI in Dallas.  I am awesomely impressed by the quality and attention to excellence of this institution.  This school is not a rehab for rebels; it is a focus-driven program for those who desire to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

When Kid#4 Sam first wanted to attend CFNI, Rick and I dug in our heels to postpone Sam’s decision until he attended a state school.  After much prayer and thought, we relented, not that Sam asked our permission.  Sam asked for our blessing, and we gave it.  One Godly blessing parents miss is in blessing their children.  If you’ve never studied the subject, I encourage you to do so.  A great book in which to begin is The Blessing by Gary Smalley and John Trent, Ph.D.  “No matter what our age, our parents’ approval affects the way we view ourselves – and how we act with those we love most.   Now we can all learn to find – and give – the unconditional acceptance the Bible calls The Blessing.”

One incredible ministry with which he is involved is Dallas Metro Kids.  He has incredible stories of his ministry with inner city kids.  He and his team (picture inserted) are taking 500 kids to summer camp.  Yes, 500 inner city kids!  Wow!

After the graduation Friday, the family trekked to The Ballpark to catch the Rangers and Angels’ game.  At 7:30 after the first inning, we experienced a rain delay – more like a severe storm delay – and Brin and I hid out in the women’s restroom.  She and I were the only “brave” ones in our group to leave the stands.  While we were in the restroom, we met some new friends and had fun talking to some wonderful Texas women*.  As women gathered inside the restroom and some stalls were in use, MEN started coming in!   It reminded me of the story of the Titanic where men were jumping into the lifeboats while women and children remained on the ship.  Security was called in to force the men out!  What is the deal with chicken men today?!  The game resumed at 9:30 and finished with fireworks at midnight with a RANGER WIN!  Josh Hamilton was named MVP of the game.  It was awesome!

Saturday was spent getting Sam and Emily relocated in East Texas.  My chicks are finally gathered close again.  *happy sigh*

I love this boy!  CONGRATULATIONS, SAM!  I’m so proud of you!

In addition, three other family members (Caroline, Peter, and Jamie) graduated from college, and I’m proud of them, too.  Kid #3 Jeremiah will walk on Saturday, and we will party hardy Saturday afternoon.

Peace and love.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.  God bless Israel.  God help America.

*For those of you who watch those terrible reality shows about Texas women, please don’t stereotype all Texas women by that standard.  In spite of the apparent wealth pictured on the program, the show is trash and portrays Texas women as trashy.  Granted, there are women who support this stereotype, but Texas women, in general, are wonderful people.
