Do Not Panic

I am watching The Weather Channel this morning which is reporting so much of Japan’s devastation.   Last week, TWC reported on the earthquakes in Arkansas where I have friends.  Floods, tsunamis, snow storms…

I have a Friend Who talks about these things.  He said, Watch out for doomsday deceivers.  Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities, claiming, “I am Christ, the Messiah.”  They will deceive a lot of people.  When reports come in of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don’t panic.  This is routine history; this is no sign of the end.  Nation  will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over.  Famines and earthquakes will occur in various places.  This is nothing compared to what is coming.  (Matthew 24:4-8 – Remix)

I LOVE reading the teachings of Jesus.  His Words are words of life, hope, compassion, love…and warning.  Yes, Jesus didn’t preach only soft messages…kumbaya and feel-good.  He spoke words of real life.  And He talked much about the future.  Look what He said:  Keep your head and don’t panic…routine history…nothing compared to what is coming…

Why is Jesus telling us to keep our heads and not panic?  The imported rioting in Wisconsin should infuriate the locals.  Keep your heads, Wisconsin.  Don’t allow panic to overtake you.  This is routine history.

What exactly is routine history?  Dictators and air-headed leaders, the rise and fall of oil prices and monetary value, weather events, incited wars and threats of war, wildfires and oil spills…

Keep our heads and don’t panic.

I do not know the future, but I’m glad I know the One Who holds the future.  Jesus said, Watch, for you don’t know when the Lord will come.  But know this:  if the homeowner had known what time of night the burglar would arrive, he would have been there with his dogs to prevent the break-in.  Be vigilant just like that.  (Matthew 24 – Remix)

Prepare for the future.  Talk with your children about preparedness and have alternate plans.  Store food.  Pray.  This is nothing compared to what is coming.

Trust in the Lord.

Peace and love.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

I’m so glad you posted this. Everyone is panicky. I’m not. The Mayan calendar is saying May 12, 2012, is the end of time as we know it. I’ve been hearing that. I do not get caught up in this doomsday stuff. Only the Lord knows when He’s coming back. “like a thief in the night”. According to the Bible, we’ve been living in the “end times” since the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and we still await His 2nd coming. And His time is not as we think of it. AND God wants All to come to repentance and I believe He’s still waiting. We who are His children must be patient and trust in Him and His watchcare over us. Debbie L. had a great post today, too, on the goings on in Japan. You two must have talked… Love ya~~~
